DID WE LOVE?

We’re seeing some progress against the MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) challenges of this week. Thank God for that.
It hardly seems relevant to note all the time consuming details of recent weeks. There are always innumerable time consuming details in everyday of everyone's life, the details that in their exasperating lack of structure preclude attaining the goals we once so optimistically set.
There is not even a balance to be struck in managing the time-consuming details. They control without our permission. We have no permissions to give, though we are loath to admit that.
Rare and precious is the confluence of events and circumstances and environment and genetics that individually produced each of us, each singular and unique. You would think such special and unique individuals would each have something special and unique to contribute to the world. Indeed, there are moments when it seems so. But the time-consuming details promptly subsume our potential and we are left with just making the best of our utterly unforeseen situation.
Could we have done better? No doubt. To which we respond with either denial or guilt, neither serving to facilitate doing better next time.
We each leave our legacy, whether an empty and unnoticed void or a towering chrome and steel corporation. In either case the question echoing through the empty halls of the life we once walked is "did we love?", bouncing off the echoing question we asked every day, "were we loved?"
Thank God for the time-consuming details that form the life we eventually lead in spite of our grandiose visions. There in the unforeseeable happenstance is our opportunity of response, response and choices that give definition and meaning to the term "individual". We were unable to pursue our individual goals, our seemingly God-given goals, and the world and our souls are probably better off for that. Instead the time - consuming details provided the answers to those questions echoing through eternity, "Were we loved - did we love?"
