OUR ANCIENT BIRTH

I call this temporal world the place of our spiritual birth and the time of our Choice.
So why didn’t Yeshu (Jesus) call it that? In answer I see that He did call it that. He said we had to be born of the Spirit. Over and over He gave people the Choice to accept or reject the Good News.
All this talk of “birth” and “Choice” is ancient beyond days. Through the ages and in many languages it has been expressed and in many forms embodied. Usually in the daily struggles and routines it is not spoken. But it is in those daily struggles and routines that we make our Choice and define our eternal birth.
Without word or ritual or theology or formalized structure or defined belief we make our Choice and our birth continues.
Occasionally “birth” and “Choice” get put into words, faltering descriptions and dim explanations of the nature of this life. When time is right and circumstances of Purpose come together just so, one of those explanations -theories – theologies – philosophies - or religions flourishes for a time, grabbing some collective imagination or inspiring some exclusive cult. In its various forms and latest incarnations of words and liturgy people will worship – recite – study – chant – meditate - and crusade. Meanwhile in the farm field and battlefield, the boardroom and bedroom, the temple and the tavern, the Choice in its infinite form will remain unchanged, and our birth will inexorably continue.
